Planning a renovation and want to know whether a gas appliance is the right fit for your budget? We’d be happy to do an onsite quote for you. This allows us to only focus on serious customers.
Some things to bear in mind:
- BTU Levels vary depending on the appliance, but you need to know the TOTAL BTU’s, not just the BTU rating for a single burner or element.
- BTU Ratings can be found with the appliance details either in the manual or in the description of the product page on a website.
You may also need:
- A stove hookup kit which includes a 1/2”, 48” flex connector with fittings for $69+HST. All stoves need this unless someone is swapping out an existing gas appliance for another.
- If you are connecting a BBQ, you might need a quick connect kit. Some new BBQ’s come with one and some do not- check to see if you will need one and what size. Sizing info for the appliance should be included in the appliance information on the website product page or in the product manual.
3/8″ BBQ QUICK CONNECT- $50+HST
1/2″ BBQ QUICK CONNECT – $70+HST
A: We install gas lines for a wide range of appliances including gas stoves and ranges, BBQs and outdoor grills, gas fireplaces, fire pits, pool heaters, garage heaters, outdoor heaters, furnaces, and gas boilers.
If you have an appliance that requires a gas connection and it is not on this list, contact the team to discuss your specific needs.
A: Gas lines can be difficult to price accurately, as they rely on a large amount of variables like Total BTU’s, length, and distance from existing gas service.
In order to give you the best price possible we prefer to do on-site quotes for gas lines to make sure we’ve got all the information we need to give you a fair and accurate estimate.
Our gas line quotes are just $49+HST, and if you approve our quote and move forward with the install, we will credit that amount back to you from the final price.
A: Gas line pricing depends heavily on factors that can only be assessed in person, like the route the line needs to take, the BTU demand of your appliance, existing pipe sizes, and local access challenges. The $49 quote fee ensures our technicians can dedicate proper time to serious customers. If you choose to move forward with the installation, the $49 is fully credited toward your total.
A: The most important piece of information is the total BTU rating of the appliance(s) you want to connect- not just the rating for a single burner or element, but the total for the whole unit, or all appliances being connected. This figure is usually found in the product manual or on the manufacturer’s website product page. If you cannot locate it before your quote, the technician can help you find it on-site.
A: No- the appliance doesn’t have to be there during the gas line install, but if we need to return to connect the appliance at a later date, you will be billed $135 for the additional return visit and connection. Having everything ready on installation day helps you avoid that extra cost.
A: Beyond new line installations, we handle capping off existing gas lines ($189), disconnecting and reconnecting a gas appliance in a single visit ($209), connecting an appliance to an already-installed gas line ($209), and red tag inspections and corrections ($235 + HST, with any parts and repairs extra). We also do leak searches and leak repairs (Prices vary depending on location, size and cause of leak) as well as general gas line repairs, pressure testing and fitting replacements.
Call or book online to arrange any of these services.
All of our service calls include professional diagnostics, safety checks, and repairs performed to industry and code standards. Red tag service calls, however, often involve additional steps beyond a typical service appointment.
When equipment has been red tagged, there is a documented safety or compliance concern that requires further investigation, verification, and reporting before the equipment can be returned to service.
In addition to diagnosing and repairing the issue, our technicians must complete additional testing, document findings, verify that all applicable code and safety requirements have been satisfied, and complete the necessary administrative processes to clear the red tag.
These calls often require more time on-site, additional documentation, and a higher level of coordination than a standard service visit.
Our pricing reflects the expanded scope of work and responsibility involved in returning the equipment to safe, legal, compliant operation.
At Ashton Heating, safety and quality workmanship are priorities on every service call. Our Red tag pricing simply reflects the additional work required to resolve a documented safety issue and complete the process properly from start to finish.
